Letter to Tadeusz Perl

part of the collection

A letter from the father to his son on a postcard.

Return address and details of Tadeusz Perl in different handwriting; return (contact) address very difficult to read. Possibly in place for the sender's name is J. Zarzycki (?). This is just a speculation, but this could possibly be Jerzy Zarzycki. The family may have known him through the ties to the film community due to, for example, Jadwiga's (née Perl) marriage to Stanislaw Wohl.

My Dear! Thank you very much for the Maseime [?] package and the stock cubes. The latter often go into the soups I get for breakfast. Jadzia also eats them; she is with us, and you probably got a card from her. She's already got a job as a waitress in a large coffee house. She earns about 10 zlotys a day. Her mother wasn't all too keen on this kind of work because it's too strenuous for the poor child. But you have to take what you can get, as jobs aren't easy to come by. The work may not be easy, and the pay unimpressive, as it is hard to make a living from it, but Jadzia enjoys it and is happy. Other than that, same old. Mother is busy as ever and now has to care for Jadzia, too. Samek is in Warsaw, visiting us. He's looking for a job. For the New Year, I wish you all the best and a swift return to your country. Kisses. L

[annotation along the left edge:] Warm hugs and kisses from M. [i.e. Melania – Tadeusz Perl's mother]
