A letter from a father. The return address is the address of Maria Karczmarczyk, as in almost all correspondence from the Warsaw Ghetto and in the correspondence of Jadwiga née Perl from the period when she was probably in hiding. We do not know whether Leon and Melania Perl are in the ghetto, but we can assume that they have already left it – because the father uses a code in places in this letter (about Melania Perl: 'Mrs Melania', 'my wife'; 'We have a small new flat , but modern and pleasant' – a coded message that this is a good place to live on the so-called Aryan side?). Another clue is the name of Tadeusz Perl as the addressee – written down for security reasons, to make it sound more 'Polish' for people tracking down Jews – with the added suffix "-ski".
The letter mentions a family member, Marianna [surname unknown], who died in the early 1940s in Lviv; However, we do not know what situations we are talking about that influenced her life ("proposals") – perhaps regarding entering into relationships?
There are two blue streaks visible on the card on the side intended for the letter. The same ones are visible on the card written by Maria Karczmarek herself. It does not seem that these were randomly drawn lines, rather it is a message from Karczmarek to Tadeusz Perl, who understands it.

My Dear! Your postcards from 30 October and 2 December have arrived, bringing true joy to all of us. It's been a while [?] since we heard from you. Although we've had many of our own troubles during this time, we thought about you all the time. We were especially concerned that you might follow in Marjanka's footsteps, whose attempts to settle down ended so sadly. If you receive any similar proposals from either side, I strongly advise you to reject them without hesitation, as they can only bring painful disappointments. I am working, and my wife is as busy as usual around the house. Our new flat is small but modern and pleasant. We live there, just the two of us. Warm greetings from me and from Mrs Melania.
