Letter to an unknown addressee

part of the collection

The letter from Charles Kluga to his employer on 2 cards. From the contents of the letter (original spelling): "Dear Mr Boss! I received a letter from you, which I was extremely pleased with, because it gave me so much joy and hope, which I had not had for a long time. I was constantly thinking about it and told the elderly man that I would like to work for you again, and the elderly man comforted me and told me never to doubt that I would definitely work. Although before that Mr Leoffler had a prejudice against me and constantly put me in a bad light in front of you, it later turned out what he had become in the face of your parents and the office, where something had to be saved, he had an opportunity to get rich, although even that was in vain". | The company of Theophilus Glocer and son (Władysław) had its shops, among others, on Moniuszki Street and on Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw. It also had outlets in other cities of Poland: Łódź, Gdynia, Białystok, Cracow, Katowice and Częstochowa. They traded in all kinds of accounting machines: typewriters (e.g. of the popular Mercedes brand), arithmetic machines (calculating machines; predecessors of the popular calculators), franking machines (for sending mass correspondence; they put the date and the company data on the envelope) and office printers. | The headquarters of a factory called " Theophilus Glocer" producing textile machines (knitting and hosiery machines and parts for them) was located at 28 Senatorska Street in Warsaw. The company's warehouse was located at 95c Żelazna Street. The company also had a branch in Łódź (57 Piotrkowska Street). | After the war, Władysław had an office in the Empire State Building. | MF, MW
