Letter to Władysław Glocer

part of the collection

Letter from Teofil Glocer to his son on 2 pages. From the body of the letter (original spelling): “I see from your letter to Janeczka that you’re getting emotional when writing business letters to your clients – you should restrain yourself, it doesn’t suit a brave merchant to cry, especially as you have every reason to be cheerful and thank the Creator that you got rid of your previous clients and business! However, I’m pleased that you have a new field of activity on healthier ground and that you are already corresponding freely in Spanish and that Mr Agrell is satisfied with your activity. Mr Agrell’s decision on a certain profit is very nice, but yours also seems correct to me, I’m just afraid if you did the right thing buying a car, because it entails permanent expenses and costs! It’s a fact, that, in view of the distances there, when you are a merchant, such a vehicle is a necessity and it saves time – but I entreat you never to attempt to drive the car yourself, mindful of past accidents; I can only imagine the traffic on the streets and roads there!”
