Letter to Władysław Glocer

part of the collection

A letter, on a single card, from Teofil Glocer to his son (excerpt):

"The journey began under a good sign. Mr. Brown, one of the UNRRA bosses, who rented the villa of dear Janeczka, provided us with a comfortable car all the way to Gdynia, with a very obliging driver, who made the quite difficult trip much easier for us and was at our disposal until the ship’s actual departure 8th April.

This ship was supposed to leave Gdynia on 5th April and, as if at our request - it had to remain until 8yj April, which we consider an extraordinary occurrence because, otherwise, we would have had to wait until 25th April for the next ship.

The sea voyage to Trelleborg went fairly well and, today, at 8:00 am, we arrived in Stockholm, where Mr. Ulfengren was waiting for us. He took true Swedish-style care of us, prepared temporary accommodation for us at a hotel, and promises to continue offering his help".
