Letter to Zofia Dutkiewicz-Baruch

It is part of the collection

A letter written by Wacław Baruch at the time when the deportation action began in the Warsaw ghetto began. The letter is therefore clearly distinguishable from the others in terms of tone and physical appearance: written in pencil, on only one page; the letters are clear, their endings still with calligraphic elements, but in many parts the writing is much less shapely than in others, as if shaky, despite the general care. The full text: "Sunday 28 / VII 42. | My dear and only, Zosieńka. I will write just a few words because I cannot collect my thoughts at all, our situation will probably be known to You, my beloved Zochno, maybe God will let us see each other again, but if not, remember my only child that only once in my life I loved and love you, I adore you and I am not able to describe the love, attachment and longing that my heart is filled with for my dearest Zochna. In the whole world to find a being like you, Zochno it's almost impossible. | Zosieńko, my only one, try to obtain more money for me, try to come earlier on Tuesday, maybe we will be able to see each other same place as the last time, at 10, wait until 12 o'clock, if it doesn’t work out, go to Stacha and wait for a phone call without packages, some sour candy at the most. As for the money, leave it with the priest at the parish. Zochno, the donor, will tell you a lot. Pray for me and maybe the Lord Jesus will not abandon us. | Yours to the last breath | Witki ".
