Letters to Wojciech Przybyszewski

part of the collection

Three letters sent in one envelope to Wojciech Przybyszewski, including a message from Elżbieta Zachczyńska. Letter 1: a thank-you for the sent book and the magazine Wiercica; from the content of the letter it appears that Teodor Bok also received photographs from an event in Podkowa, at which friends from the caving club were probably present. He confesses that the book he is currently reading is Biesy (Demons) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, he is impressed by the writer's dark mind, and generally approaches literature with increasing admiration.

The artist was recently visited by a Japanese sculptor and his family, which makes Bok unable to shake off the manners of Japanese politeness and culture of being, he humorously reports on the operation of Japanese martial arts schools that compete with each other as well as with the heritage of the Viking country.

He reports that he has started designing an exlibris for a friend, in linocut technique: he doesn't know yet what will come out of it, there are only 10 days left until the end of the academic year, so if it doesn't work out now, he will be able to go back to work again in September or October.

The last lines of the message are a question w regarding going to Spain, whether there are already concrete arrangements for this.

The 2nd letter is a continuation of the previous one, Bok relays that he has sent two prints of an etching, he has finally prepared an etching with tint because the linocut technique presented difficulties. He wonders about the offset.

Letter No. 3 is a short message from Elżbieta Zachczyńska, sent as a courtesy by Teodor Bok. The author informs Wojciech Przybyszewski that he will be in Warsaw in the near future, also gives his telephone number and the address.
