Membership card of Bolesław Pacanowski

Bolesław Pacanowski's membership card of the Association of Polish Artists ; no. 310, issued 10.04.1967, with photograph.

After the end of World War II, Bolesław Pacanowski returned from the Soviet Union to Poland in the summer of 1946. After his return, he registered with the Central Committee of Polish Jews (see the Archives of the Jewish Historical Institute, registration cards, ref. P30, Pbn15). At first he lived in Wałbrzych, but soon came to Łódź, his home town. After his liberation from Auschwitz, his daughter Anna also lived in Łódź. Since then, as he wrote in a letter to Józef Sandel, he took part in (almost) all annual exhibitions of the Łódź branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP); he also participated in national exhibitions of the Association. He was a full member of the ZPAP from 1950; this card with the artist's photograph was issued on 10 April 1967, and had to be renewed every year. The last entry, confirmed by a round stamp, is from 1969.
