Museum of Independence (Warsaw)

The Museum of Independence in Warsaw is a local government cultural institution; it is administered by the Management Board of the Mazowieckie Province. The museum runs exhibitions, education, arts and culture and publishing activities. Its headquarters is located in the Przebendowski/Radziwiłł Palace at 62 Solidarności Avenue (al. Solidarności 62) in Warsaw. The museum has several branches: the X Pavilion Museum at the Warsaw Citadel, the Pawiak Prison Museum, the Mausoleum of Struggle and Martyrdom and the Museum of the Battle of Warsaw 1920 in Radzymin.

The Museum of Independence in Warsaw, in line with its statutory tasks, collects artefacts and memorabilia related to the history of the Polish nation and state within its historical boundaries. The centuries-long presence of Jews in Polish lands has meant that a substantial Judaica collection can be found among the abundant collections. The fate of the Jewish community is documented in a variety of creative fields: painting, printmaking, drawing, posters, photographs, old coins, medals and ephemeral prints of all kinds. The Judaica exhibited range from the late 18th to the 20th century, with most 20th-century objects, including those relating to the Holocaust. The artefacts illustrate all manifestations of Jewish social life: political, economic and cultural.
