Nazi German forced labour camp (Flugplatz) in Lublin

Photographic documentation of the site

During the Second World War, in the buildings of the former "Plage & Laśkiewicz" aviation works and the Polish army pilot training centre at Wrońska Street, the Germans set up a forced labour camp, known as the "Flugplatz Camp". Initially, in July 1940, some 150 Jewish workers were employed in several small workshops. Over time, the camp has expanded. Approximately 2,000 people of Jewish origin worked in the factories of glass, brushes, and shoes, among others. Guard duty was performed by Ukrainians trained at the centre in Trawniki. In 1942, the post was officially subordinated to the administration of the Majdanek concentration camp.
