The Net

Grzywacz, Zbylut (1939-2004)

The work from the series 'Blockade' belongs to the series 'March'68' created by Zbylut Grzywacz in April 1968. The series consists of works depicting streets blocked by the communist authorities. In the painting 'The Net', Grzywacz painted a chain of ORMO militiamen standing arm in arm; they were transported by buses to the centre of Krakow to create blockades. The author placed the red figures on the red net floating above the stone pavement, thus creating its ideological equivalent.
