Notebook of Marek Szwarc

The thin, small notebook in black covers dates from 1941, during Marek Szwarc's service in the Polish Army in the UK. It contains various information, from the date of his birth (9 May 1892) written on the inside cover, his service affiliation and the number of the military book of the senior rifleman Marek Szwarc who served in the 3rd Battalion of the 8th Company of the 1st Independent Rifle Brigade within the 1st Polish Corps in Great Britain, to the addresses of his wife, relatives and friends and the Polish embassy in London. Inside we find notes in Polish and French, including a letter to his daughter Tereska and numerous drawings. At the end, Szwarc wrote down a declaration (in French): "I am a Catholic and want to be buried according to the Catholic religion", Marek Szwarc, St. Andrews 6 I 1941".
