Obrączka (Wedding Ring) – unpublished version

Siemaszko, Olga (1911-2000)

Funeral flowers after the death of Maria Zarębińska-Broniewska – one of the unpublished versions of the illustrations to Władysław Broniewski's poem "Obrączka" (Wedding ring ) from the edition in the volume "Ręka umarłej" (Hand of a Deceased). A rather related version of this work, which is printed in the book, appears on page 122, under the poem.

The zigzags under the stem can be interpreted as referring to the last two lines of the poem:

"and I had to know

that...

that it would be bad,

that there would be a life in the fog,

that I would write poor

poems"
