Rogalski, Gustaw (1887-1939)

Gustaw Rogalski was born on 29 June 1887 in Tarnopol (Ternopil), he died on 24 December 1939 in Przegorzały near Kraków. He was a Polish illustrator, caricaturist, and footballer. He received an education in arts in Germany. He lectured at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and taught drawing in schools. He published satirical magazines such as Rogaty and the Karykatury biweekly.

He specialised in caricatures, for which he gained a large popularity. His works were exhibited, among others, at an international caricature expo in Vienna in 1932.

The item forms part of the prewar collection of the National Museum of Przemyśl. Due to missing inventory documentation it has been impossible to determine how it became property of the Museum.
