Open air portrait of Halina Olszewicka

part of the collection

During her stay in Great Britain, Halina would send out letters in the search for her brother. As Jerzy Olszewicki remembered years later: 'I did not find my sister until 1946, in England, in the Polish Army [...]. For the rest of the family, parents, brother, uncles, aunts, cousins... I had been waiting all the post-war time. I still wait futilely' ('Losy Żydowskie. Świadectwo żywych', ed. M. Turski, Warszawa 1996).
