During the German occupation during the Second World War, the building of the current Collegium Iuridicum of the Catholic University of Lublin at 1 Spokojna Street there was the Julius Schreck German barracks. On the initiative of the SS and police chief of the Lublin district, Odilo Globocnik, the headquarters of the "Reinhardt" operation were placed in this building. From here, the Germans ordered the extermination of the Jewish population throughout the General Government.
