Parochet made of plush fabric in two different shades of green. The original colours have probably faded considerably due to the passage of time and are now close to a mustard colour. The surface of the curtain is decorated with intricate embroidery made with metallic thread, sewn-on fabric appliqué, gold ribbons and metallic tassels. At the centre, in a wreath of rose blossoms, the text in Hebrew is visible. The ornament is topped with a closed crown, flanked by two lions.
A parochet is an ornamental fabric hung on the eastern wall of a prayer room in a synagogue or house of worship. It covers the altar cabinet (Hebrew: aron ha-kodesh) in which the Torah scrolls are kept.
The parochet, now a part of the collection of the Rzeszów Regional Museum, did not belong to the equipment of any Rzeszów synagogue. It was purchased by the Museum in 1981.
