Passport records of Olkusz Jews

A ten-page set of documents produced as a result of the handling of various passport cases of Polish citizens of Jewish nationality from the Olkusz district in the interwar period. The set includes requests addressed to the President of the Republic of Poland, Ignacy Mościcki, and the Olkusz County Office. Gutman Sztern and Icek Secemski addressed the head of state in the following words in a letter dated 24 January 1939 [original spelling]: "As a celebrated name and benefactor of all of Poland, I humbly and politely turn to the Honourable President of the Republic of Poland, Professor Ignacy Mościcki, to grant us the opportunity to emigrate to Australia. We justify our request by the fact that on 14 March 1938, we wrote a letter to the King of England requesting permission to settle in Australia, and we received a reply, which we will enclose. We respectfully and politely request from our beloved President to grant us the opportunity to emigrate."
