Photo of Ernestyna Bauer (née Kutin) holding her daughter Marta. It was taken outdoors in Lvov, probably in 1940. The woman is wearing a patterned dress. She is holding her daughter in her arms. The child is wearing a sleeveless dress; she has no shoes on. On the reverse of the photo, there is a caption handwritten in pen: “Your Mummy | with You” and notes in pencil – the numbers “8” and “6” (k or h). The photo was probably torn out of an album, as suggested by traces of glue and pieces of cardstock attached to it. It has toothed edges, with a white rim running along each side. The archival file includes three identical photos – the two other prints do not have toothed edges or captions on the back. | Text by Monika Harchut
