Photograph of Alexandra Rozengarten with her carer, Jadwiga Plackota, in the window

part of the collection

Photograph of Aleksandra Rozengarten with a large bow in her hair (captured in three-quarter length) and her carer Jadwiga Plackota, looking out through the open window of a house in Radziwiłłów. The photo is from the period of hiding following Aleksandra's escape from the Warsaw ghetto. There are flowers in pots by the Plackota and behind the glass of the unopened part of the window. Behind the girl are visible pictures, known from another photograph (in the interior, see 1.7). Alexandra holds a doll of a highlander, only half of which is visible. The window was probably high, with an extra section above the one photographed - the lower edge of the shutters above is visible.
