Photograph of Anabella (?) of the Mamelok family (?) with her letter to Halina Mamelok née Baruch

The photograph of a member of the Mamelok family residing in France (judging by her referring to herself as 'Stryjenka' in her correspondence with Halina of Baruch Mamelok), possibly named Anabella (see note to photograph MPOLIN-A25.1.59). She stands wearing a hat against the background of a fence; she is wearing pearls around her neck. On the back, there is an extensive letter to Halina in blue ink (Ziuta) Mamelokowa, which begins with the words: "Dear Ziuteczko"; addressed: "Mme. | Directoress Mamelok | Tow. "Zawiercie" | a Zawiercie | Pologne". No stamp - broken off; written and posted in Nice ('Nizza' - place name, 'NICE' - on the stamp), but the photograph taken, as the content suggests, on the Côte d'Azur. "[...] instead of long expositions, I send You my likeness, taken by my brother, Henio, who lives permanently in Paris; the photograph is from Mentona, where my brother and I went during his stay here in October. Not a bad photograph, only that "chapeau gibus", a veritable cylinder! It's good that the fashion has passed and that we now have tiny, low and cosy hats. Our journey is again postponed until the spring: it turned out to be improbable to come to Poland for the winter and, in fact, madness. I think and hope that we shall welcome you here even before then".
