Photograph of Ewa Rodzynek and Jerzy Kolasiński against the background of the fence

The photo shows Ewa Rodzynek with Jurek Kolasiński. Full-body photograph. Ewa and Jurek stand in the snow. In the background there is a fence. Ewa initially hid at the home of Tadeusz Sarnecki's friends, Mr. and Mrs. Nowak, at Łucka Street. After a few weeks, she obtained her first false documents in the name of Zofia Wapowska. Ewa and Jurek took part in the Warsaw Uprising. They both appear on the pages of Tadeusz Sarnecki's manuscript 'Warszawa heroiczna', written during the uprising and finished in Brussels after the liberation (T. Sarnecki, Warszawa heroiczna, National Library, Rps 7944 II). During the uprising, however, Ewa stayed with Tadeusz. She distributed the underground press and was a nurse in the insurgent hospital organised in the basement of the Hyacinth Church at Freta Street. After the fall of the uprising in the Old Town, she made her way with the 'Sosna' unit to Śródmieście (Archive of the Jewish Historical Institute, Documentation of Holocaust Victims, ref. 50).
