Photograph of four young Jews

Three smiling young women and a crouching man in front of them on a snowy street, next to a pile of snow; a wooden fence at the back, buildings and Church of St. Adalbert in Kielce in the background. A Star of David armband is visible on the right sleeve of the man's coat. The first on the left is Rutka (surname unknown). The man was probably her fiancé.

The photograph was taken on ul. Pomorska (Pomorska Street), near the house at ul. Pomorska 7 (7 Pomorska Street) [now ul. Jarońskich (Jarońskich Street)]. The location and the behaviour and attire of the people portrayed indicate that the photograph was presumably taken in the winter of 1939/1940 (less likely the winter of 1940/1941), before the establishment of the Kielce Ghetto on 5 April 1941.

A group of the same people in this location was photographed in photographs with accession numbers MHKi/H/2422/1-8.

A young woman named Rutka was portrayed in photographs with accession numbers MHKi/H/2422/1-2, 4-5, 9-11, 15-20, 22-36, 38, 40-41, 44-58, 60, 62-67, 152.
