Photograph of Hana Hinda, née Kleczewska

A monochrome photograph of Hana Hinda, née Kleczewska, mother of Hilel Pozner. A cabinet, full-figure photograph, against a neutral background, the face captured in three quarters. Dressed in a dark costume, the woman is portrayed at a table with a tablecloth, against which she is leaning with her left hand. She is holding a handbag in her right hand. There is a Star of David on her left breast - as a discriminatory sign. The edges are serrated. During the German occupation, Hilel Pozner's was in Greater Poland, where she had lived with her husband for many years (at least until 1918). The photograph was taken in Konin; the dedication was written in Zagórów, 30 km away from Konin. It can be assumed that Hana Hinda was resettled in Zagórów with other groups of Jews from Konin, some of whom ended up in the Zagórów ghetto which functioned between 1940 and 1942; it housed 2,500 people who were later shot in the nearby Kazimierz forests. It is not known whether the woman died in this massacre or whether she was sent to the forced labour camp for Jews, which was in operation at the turn of 1942 and 1943. It is known from the donor that the photograph has survived because it was sent to Portugal - the dedication on the back indicates that it was sent to Solomon Perel and Fiszel. There are traces of the album page to which the photograph was glued, and discolouration from the glue.
