Photograph of Helena and Leon Leipziger on a boat

Active outdoor recreation, so common nowadays, in the past attracted mainly wealthy people. It was enjoyed by those who could afford the weekly excursions and carefree enjoyment of nature. This lifestyle is presented in most of the archive photographs associated with the Leipziger family. In the next one, we see Leon and Helena on a weekend trip to a pond prepared for holidaymakers seeking rest. The couple sit in the boat. A woman, unknown by name, is staying with them. Everyone appears joyful and poses with smiles on their faces for a photo. Leon Leipziger holds the oars. He is dressed in a jacket. His wife is wearing a dark blouse and a trench coat. The woman sitting in the middle is in a light-coloured blouse or dress with short sleeves. She has a light coat draped over her right shoulder, which she holds with her left arm. At the height of the Leipzigers' boat, there is another one in with a child sitting in it. More boats can be seen in the distance. The reservoir is located in a depression in the terrain and is surrounded by a wooden fence. A tall forest grows on the hill to the right and in front. On the reverse of the photograph is a handwritten inscription in pencil: “Your faithfully loving wife Helutka. Oh! How happy I was with you. May I have it again and experience such delightful moments. Those that I had with you. Amen.” The photograph is a horizontal rectangle with serrated edges. It was made in black and white.
