Photograph of the interior of the Valaze Beauty House in Paris

It is part of the collection

The photograph shows the interior of the Helena Rubinstein’s Maison de Beauté Valaze (Valaze Beauty House), located at 255 rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. It was one of the first SPA salons in the world.

The photo was taken circa 1912, during Helena Rubinstein's Parisian period of emigration. She opened her first salon in Paris in 1909. The image features a group of four elegantly dressed women looking at her cosmetics. The first woman, from the left, is standing, while the others are seated around a table covered with bottles. The women's heads are adorned with hats in various styles, with headgear featuring decorative feathers being fashionable at that time. The salon had a very elegant and stylish interior, furnished with tasteful furniture.
