Photograph of Jerzy Kolasiński writing

The photograph shows Jurek Kolasiński writing at his desk. Jurek has dark hair and is dressed in a dark suit. He holds a pencil in his right hand. Ewa was separated from Jurek in the early stage of the uprising. According to Tadeusz Sarnecki's memoirs, she managed to find him shortly after the bombing of the PKO building at Jasna Street, and therefore after 4 September. "Ewa also found Jurek, but he was dislocated to a very exposed part of the frontline, so she saw him only in passing [...]". - wrote Sarnecki (Warszawa heroiczna, Biblioteka Narodowa, Rps 7944 II, k. 157). The last time they saw each other was just after the surrender of the uprising; Sarnecki's description: "We walk like this with Ewa from point to point and exchange farewells, discuss future plans, give addresses when everything in future is still unknown. Ewa promises Jurek that she will write, he says that he will reply, but do they stand a chance of ever finding each other?" (ibid, p. 160).
