Photograph of Kazimeirz Malewicz

It is part of the collection

Szczekacz probably took with him the photograph of the Russian painter Kazimierz Malewicz (1876-1936) hen he left for Brussels. "Strzemiński," Pinkus Szwarc recalled, "was fascinated by Kazimierz Malewicz," and in class he would demonstrate and explain to his students the works of the suprematist artist brought from Russia: "He made himself a suprematist lithograph at the time [1936] in homage to Malewicz. In turn, we printed the first book on Malewicz, which was easy because we were given a ready-made form, in black and white. This was my first step into lithography and printing. I owed a great deal to these skills, because after the war I was able to find work in a printing house in Paris." A.
