Photograph of Krystyna Chaplin (Kurc) in front of the laboratory in Holon

The photo shows Krystyna outside the building where she worked. It is from a period when she seems to have adapted to the new world.

However, in her oral history report at Polin Museum in 2019, Christine Tibika very bitterly recalled the moment of the departure and the first period thereafter: "I was thirty-two when I left [...]. The fact that I could take this or that, so many crystals (I don't like them anyway), so much silver, I don't care for. I was young, the world was before me, I was sure that I would make it all back. I didn't have any attachment to material things. But the fact that I couldn't books ... I remember, it's so funny, my mother-in-law made a wonderful poppy seed cake, she had an old cookbook, she wanted to give me. And I couldn't take it, they looked at every single one ... And then you were apatride [stateless] - that's very ... it's harder. "
