Photograph of a man and a woman from page 13v of the Garnek family album

The photograph depicts a couple. The smooth-shaven young man standing on the right has his head, which can be seen in three-quarters, slightly tilted towards the woman. He is dressed in a dark coat with a white shirt sticking out from underneath, he is holding a cane in his hand and is wearing a bowler hat. Standing on the left is a young woman wearing a hat and dark coat, her head facing straight ahead, and her gaze directed at the lens. She is dressed in a dark coat, on the lapels of which are overlapped with a white, wide collar. The woman is wearing white gloves, holding a rectangular object (book? Wallet?) in her right hand and a cane in her left hand. There is a mock-up (or a curtain) depicting a landscape in the background. The floor is uneven. There are clear creases on the front of the print, and brownish discolourations on the back. The photo was taken before 1936, the year of the spelling reform – the stamp reads "Fotografja" ("fotografia" after the reform) although the couple's clothing indicates an even earlier period: the most probable is the end of the second decade of the century – it could not have been the very beginning of the 20th century, as the photograph would then have been developed on cardboard; however, it is possible that it is a very good secondary print of a photograph from the beginning of the century).
