Photograph of Marianne Wechler

Photograph by niece Stefania (née Grossman) Maybaum (Marzyńska), who laconically, with a question mark, described the photo on the back: “Mani” (rather ‘Mani’ than ‘Mari’, as one might read - according to the family, the abbreviation ‘Mani’ was used). Ziuta Mamelok received the portrait from Stefa of the Grossmans. Marianna Wechsler was the daughter of Helena née Grossman Wechsler (Wexler), born in 1911 in Vienna, where the photo was also taken. (See also photos: MPOLIN-A25.1.81, MPOLIN-A25.1.96, MPOLIN-A25.1.114).

In the photograph the child is three, rather not more than four years old. She has light-colored hair pinned up with a white bow, and is dressed in a white dress.

The photograph is round-framed, with a white margin; on cardstock, with the atelier's logo on the obverse and a striking corporate print on the reverse. Trimmed side edges - probably for insertion into an album or frame.

Atelier Medina operated in Vienna from the late 19th century until the late 1930s. Two addresses are known: Hauptstrasse 95 and Dietrichgasse 2a.
