Photograph of Max Mamelok with his four children

The cabinet photograph of Max Mamelok (see note to photograph earlier in the collection), a close relative of Joseph Mamelok, with his four children. It is probably a family photograph, of the father with his children. However, we know with certainty only about one son of Max Mamelok - Arthur Mamelok, born on 16.01.1908, thanks to the records of the Jewish Community in Wrocław from the collection of the Jewish Historical Institute (ref. 105/81, https://cbj.jhi.pl/documents/186132/42/, accessed 22.07.2021) and about one daughter: in those records, Ludmilla Mamelok, née Mamelok, born 18.04.1903, is mentioned as living in the same house as Max and Eliza Brockmann Mamelok. In 1933, she was already the wife of a merchant twelve years older than her, Stephan Herrnstadt. Arthur Mamelok and Ludmilla Mamelok are standing in the upper row in the photograph, which by their (and their father's) age can be dated to 1920. |The photograph has serrated edges - it seems, however, that the serration is not original, firm, but hand-made, by a not very skilful hand. | PK
