Photograph of the Old Synagogue on Rybny Square

The photograph shows the Old Synagogue in Tarnów, probably from the interwar period or the beginning of the occupation. The arched windows and portals were a very distinctive element of the building. The façade of the building extends beyond the outline of the main body. On the right side of the photo, behind a metal fence, is standing a little boy. He is wearing dark shorts, a white shirt and a flat cap, suggesting that the photograph was taken between spring and early autumn. In the background are tenement houses. A fragment of a pasted strip of paper with the caption [St]ara bóżnic[a] (Old Synagogue) is preserved in the photograph. The synagogue dates back to the 17th century and was demolished in 1940.
