Photograph of Pawel Zieliński and Krzystyna Zembrzuska in the park

In the photo, Paweł and Krystyna Zielińska are walking along a park alley. The woman is wearing a light summer outfit. The man, standing on her left, is wearing dark suit pants, a white shirt and a white jacket. They are both wearing sunglasses. In the background, there are trees and bushes.

Krystyna Amelia Zembrzuska was born in 1922 in Chorzele. During the occupation, she married Bohdan Stanisław Xiężopolski. She took part in the Warsaw Uprising, serving in the "Baszta" regiment as a liaison officer. She was injured on August 28 and rescued by sappers from under the rubble of the house at Krasickiego Street (the facility of the Women's Military Service was located there). From Mokotów she went through the sewers to Śródmieście, and after the capitulation, she left Warsaw together with the civilian population. After the war, she studied at the University of Warsaw and worked at the Central Statistical Office and the "Sztuka" Publishing House. When Stanisław Xiężopolski was declared dead, she married Paweł Zieliński. UCO
