Photograph of the principal and children from a school or an orphanage in Przemyślany (?)

Preserved in fragments (badly damaged and bent at the time of its inclusion in the collection), this is a group studio photograph from the pre-war Stanisławów Province, possibly showing boys and girls pupils from one of the schools, or perhaps children from an orphanage. Two of the names written on the back are found in Jewish metrics, as is the name of the owner or founder of the photographic studio appearing on the stamp.

The photograph was most likely taken before the outbreak of the Second World War. However, it is theoretically possible that the photograph was taken in the period 1939-1941, after the occupation of the eastern territories of Poland by the USSR and before the outbreak of the German-Soviet war.

In the top row there are four boys standing, in the bottom row sit two brightly dressed girls (one wearing a dark skirt and white shirt), to the right of them stands a man who is mentioned in the description on the back: “Żamorski [Zamorski?] Janusz | dyr. Zakładu” (Żamorski [Zamorski ?] Janusz | Facility Director). Everyone is looking into the lens. In the top row, on the line of the rip line next to the man and the fourth boy above him, the arm of another person is visible; their image has been removed together with the rest of the photograph. It is likely that the composition of the photograph was such that the man at the bottom was positioned in the middle of the group.

We do not know the history of the object; the photograph was in antiquarian circulation and was acquired by Bogusław Gołębiowski, who donated it to the museum collection.
