Photograph of three women from page 15v of the Garnek family album

Photograph of three women, probably post-war. The eldest, sitting in the middle in an armchair, is dressed in a patterned jumper, her hands placed on her stomach; it is possible that she is wearing a wig. The woman standing on the right has a large patterned shawl with a floral and arabesque motif draped over her shoulders; tassels at the bottom. Her right hand is partly hidden under the shawl, a fragment of her hand is visible on the backrest of the chair; her left hand, resting on her stomach, is supporting the shawl. Her dark wavy hair is pinned back. Both women - on the left and in the middle - have dark complexions. The woman standing on the left is wearing a blouse with a rowed pattern, with a wide, light and spread collar. Her hair, combed back over the forehead, flows down the sides along the face to the nape of the neck. All women have small earrings in their ears. The interior of the flat is visible in the background – the woman's armchair in the middle is standing between dark door frames, behind which is another room. On the wall with the photographed frame, on the left – wallpaper or tapestry with a distinctive floral motif; next to the frame is hanging a framed cabinet card photograph, very faintly visible, but with recognisable six or seven silhouettes of people dressed in dark and very light clothes (no similar photograph is found in the album). A print with straight edges and narrow margins on the left, top and bottom edges, with a wider margin on the right (about 2 cm). The photo is slightly out of focus, except for the exceptionally clear pattern on the woman's blouse in the centre. On the reverse there is an inscription: Post Card | For Correspondence | Address Only. At the time the album was donated, the photograph was inserted in the same window as the MPOLIN-A58.1.50 photograph of a man in a greatcoat, the other photographs of which (and perhaps a business card) were also in the album. Perhaps the two photos were put in the same window by accident, but the women and man may have been related.
