Badge of the Betar organisation (to learn more, see P. Gontarczyk, "Trumpeldorczycy, czyli żydowski narodowy radykalizm", "Glaukopis" 2005, no. 2/3), or rather the Trumpeldor Jewish Youth Association in Poland. It was the second largest (after Hashomer Hatzair) scouting organisation among Jewish youth. Its patron was Józef Trumpeldor, a Zionist activist for the establishment of a Jewish state. Betar was founded in Riga in 1923 by Włodzimierz Żabotyński (to learn more about him, see https://sztetl.org.pl/pl/biogramy/4263-zabotynski-wlodzimierz-zeew). It was a right-wing organisation associated with revisionist Zionism. Its main aim was to build a Jewish state within Palestine. In Betar, the education of young people focused largely on the development of physical fitness, strength training and self-defence training. During the Holocaust, the Betar members took part in the resistance movement - they formed the main core of the Jewish Military Union.
