Plaque with the name of Szeroka Street

Szeroka Street in Lublin, also called Jewish Street, ran in the place of today's Castle Square, from Kowalska Street to Ruska Street, and was the centre of the former Jewish district in Podzamcze. It was probably laid out before 1564. The street was built entirely of bricks only at the end of the 18th century. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, it was already built up with two- and three-storey tenement houses that were tall for this part of the city. It was one of the few streets in the Jewish district that was paved.

The presented plaque with the name of the street in Russian and Polish comes from the period of the Russian partition.
