Portrait Photograph of Helena Rubinstein from the London Period

It is part of the collection

The full-length portrait photograph of Helena Rubinstein was likely taken in 1908 at the studio of Lallie Charles, one of the prominent portrait photographers of the period in London.

The woman is posed sitting on a wooden, carved chair with a rattan back and seat, placed on a pedestal, covered with a white fur rug. She is wearing an elegant floor-length dress with a floral motif, featuring short elbow-length sleeves, finished with fringes. The dress has a V-shaped neckline, accented with a white insert and a centre embroidered appliqué with beads. Shiny slippers can be seen peeking from beneath the dress. The woman's neck is adorned with a long string of coral beads and her ears are decorated with dangling earrings. Rings are visible on the fingers of both hands. Her short hair is elegantly styled with soft waves. The background of the photograph is clean, in a light blue hue.

The photograph is affixed to a light-brown passe-partout without a cutout. Below the photo, on the right side, is the name and address of the studio - "LALLIE CHARLES, | 67, CURZON STREET, MAYFAIR." On the reverse side, there is a handwritten signature of the photograph - "Mme Helena | Rubinstein”, as well as some handwritten notes with technical information about the photograph (partially illegible).
