Prayer belt

Belt made of a wide silver galloon decorated with embroidered thin stripes and a motif of a zig-zagging line with polygons along the edges. The belt has a round, slightly convex buckle with an engraved Hebrew inscription in four lines: “Ki vayom haze yechaper/ alechem letaher etchem/ mikol chatotechem lifney/ Adonai titharu” (For on this day, He will provide atonement for you, to purify you from all your sins before God). The text is flanked by two twigs bound with a ribbon at the bottom. Engraved crown at the top.

The item forms part of the prewar collection of the National Museum of Przemyśl. Due to missing inventory documentation it has been impossible to determine how it became property of the Museum.
