Ruins of the Jewish Town in Przemyśl

Stroński, Marian (1892-1977)

The Jewish quarter in Przemyśl, known as the Jewish Town, was located between today’s Berka Joselewicza Square, neighbouring Rybi Square, and Kazimierza Wielkiego Street. The buildings in the quarter were tightly packed and unregulated, and the houses were surrounded by various annexes, market stalls, and sheds.

After the Germans took control of Przemyśl in 1941, they began to exterminate the Jewish population. The entire Jewish Town ceased to exist, with all Jewish residents of Przemyśl and the entire district resettled to a ghetto.
