Sefer hanhagot towot

Sefer hanhagot towot (Hebrew: The Book of Good Conduct). The copy from the collection of the Regional Museum in Pińczów has a cardboard binding. It includes an inscription in Russian that the work was approved by the censorship in Warsaw on 11 February 1891. Signed on the inside by the owner, Amos Nachum. In the footer, also in Russian, there is an inscription: B. Tursz, 22 Franciszkańska Street, Warsaw.

Before the outbreak of the Second World War, in 1939, Franciszkańska Street was inhabited almost exclusively by Jews. It was an important shopping street. Numerous shops offering fabrics, furs and leather operated there.

On the website of the Warszawa1939.pl Foundation, you can be transported to places that no longer exist today and feel the atmosphere of those years. It includes a photograph of the building at 22 Franciszkańska Street from 1939–1943, with a note that the building no longer exists.
