Shabbat candlestick

It is part of the collection

The candlestick is a gift of Andrzej Mikolajczyk.

The candlestick of the one-light type, the foot is circular, arched, supported on three legs made of vine twigs with semi-plastic leaves and grapes decorating the lower part of the footplate. A baluster shaft, the central part in the form of a column with a decoration of semi-plastic garlands. The sleeve in the form of a cylinder decorated with floral ornaments in the form of acanthus leaves, the drip cap is turned up, cannelled. The object dates to the period before 1939.

The candlestick is a product of a goldsmith, Motl Inventory. Unfortunately, we do not know anything about him other than that his workshop, and therefore possibly his home, was located in Bonifraterska Street. Thanks to the candlestick, the memory of the goldsmith Motl Inventor has survived... What about the thousands of similar craftsmen, of whom no products have survived...?
