Studio photograph of Zofia Zajczyk

Zofia Zajczyk (Yael Rosner) told Agata Tuszyńska about the post-war years: "We lived at 18 Krasińskiego Street, at Mrs. Rydygier's. Mum, me and Zuzia [Zosia's doll - R.P.]. I was constantly coughing. Mum wrote down in the Jewish committee that Natalia Zajczyk had survived with her daughter. She was looking for her husband, my father, and she thought that they hadn't murdered him after all. (Agata Tuszyńska, Iwona Chmielewska, "Mama zawsze wraca" [Mum Always Returns], Warsaw 2020). | On 14 March 1945 Natalia Zajczyk registered herself and her daughter Zosia with the Jewish Provincial Committee in Warsaw (Archive of the Jewish Historical Institute, ref. 303/V/427/29837, 303/V/427/29838, 303/V/427/29839, 303/V/427/29840). She then gave the address of her brother Józef Hochsinger (Flat 25, 45 Białostocka Street). Her subsequent Warsaw addresses were Flat 2, 8 Brodzińskiego Street (at engineer Zalewski's) and Flat 234, 18 Krasińskiego Street. | The photograph of Zosia, who was about seven years old at the time, was taken in the photographic studio of Piotr Kirnarski, which was located in the same building where Natalia and Zosia lived, at 18 Krasińskiego St. Before World War II, Kirnarski had a studio at 5 Krechowiecka St. | Renata Piątkowska
