The sukkah

nieznane

It is part of the collection:

The sukkah survived in its secondary use, that of a veranda in a house in Szydłowiec. A sukkah (booth, tent, boxed enclosure) is built by Jews for the festival of Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles) – it serves to remind them of their exodus from Egypt, their passage through the desert to the Promised Land and God’s protection. The Szydłowiec sukkah is unique. Three of its internal walls have polychrome decorations. An opening roof is made up of 16 panels inside and embellished with painted elements of turned timber.
