A school notebook with a pink cover with an inscription "SAMOPOMOC MŁODZIEŻY GIMNAZJUM/ Towarzystwa Zakładania Szkół Żydowskich w Lublinie" (self-help for the youth from a junior high school/Society for Establishing Jewish Schools in Lublin). Information such as the school year: "1937/38", class: "II c", and the purpose of the notebook: "Zadania Łacińskie" (Latin tasks) is handwritten. At the bottom, there is a handwritten inscription: "Rozenbergżanki Tauby" (?), probably indicating the owner of the notebook.
The item actually consists of three notebooks sewn together: the first one is a single line notebook, the second one - grid and the third one - single line. Inside, there are notes and tasks on classical harmony and music composition. They are in Polish, written by a person continuing to study that subject, as indicated by the information on the first page of the notebook: "II kurs" (course II). Possibly, when writing "Latin Tasks" on the cover, the owner had in mind tasks concerning classics, but in relation to music. Possibly, those are notes taken during some training course that included singing lessons, rather than during regular school activities.
Co-educational Humanistic Junior High School of the Society for Establishing Jewish Schools in Lublin (Polish: Gimnazjum Humanistyczne Towarzystwa Zakładania Szkół Żydowskich w Lublinie) was established in 1919. It was divided into female and male junior high schools. Girls studied in a building located at 3 Niecała Street, while the boys studied in a building nearby - at 5 Radziwiłłowska Street. In 1926, there were 169 students in the school. The language of the instruction was Polish.
The item was donated to the Lublin Open Air Village Museum in 1988 by a resident of Lublin, who might have been related to the Polish language teacher from that school - Kazimierz Grafczyński (she had the same surname).
