Torah reading pointer

Torah reading pointer (Hebrew: yad) with a conical shaft ending in a full-figured right hand with an extended index finger and a prominent frilled cuff. Above it there is superimposed band – a five-petalled flower leaves of which partly encompass a section of the stem. The handle is decorated with filigree bordered on both sides by flattened spheres of various sizes, the larger of which is additionally decorated with openwork. Attached to the top of the large sphere was a ring, through which a chain was originally drawn to allow the pointer to be hung on the Torah scroll. Three marks have been stamped on the surface of the pointer:

– AK monogram and date 1867 in a square;

– number 84 (silver proof) in a square;

– the third mark is illegible.

The object was purchased for the collection of the District Museum in Rzeszów in 2014.
