Untitled

Królikiewicz, Anna (1970-)

A photograph showing a fragment of one part of an art installation by Anna Królikiewicz – the 'Memories' table. The vertical shot shows a horizontal stack of tablecloths that have been arranged on a table in order of colour – from the darkest (most yellowed, i.e. oldest) to the lightest (whitest, i.e. newest) – and a section of the table-top. According to the author's description: "Table IV (Memories), dedicated to memories and remembrance, has many legs, and each is different – it is actually many tables and individual fates. This multiplicity of stories is also symbolised by the pile of tablecloths laid out on the table – each ironed, folded and faded tablecloth is a story we will never know in its entirety. On old tablecloths, with distant histories no longer available to our memory, younger ones are stacked, all the way to completely unused, still 'unwritten'". This is one of three, along with MPOLIN-M1358 and MPOLIN-M1360, shots of the same object.
