Tepa, Bruno (1865-1898)

Sketches on a piece of paper. In the centre of the page, there is a drawing of woman at a well. It is surrounded by several erratic sketches:

1. In the bottom right corner, a duck drawn in contour lines.

2. Above, a genre scene at a water well pump. On the left, a woman is pumping water, on the right, two women are drawing water into jugs.

3. Above the upper part of the well, a sketch of a cow.

4. Higher on the right, a drawing of a man with an escutcheon and a saw. Tree stumps and mushrooms are depicted in the field of the escutcheon.

5. On the left, an image of a cow from the back.

6. In the top right corner, a study of a man wearing a coat, pictured from the knees up.

Bruno Tepa (1865–1898) was born and died in Lviv. He was the nephew of Franciszek Tepa (1829–1889). He was first tutored by his uncle and later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under Izydor Jabłoński. He also spent some time in Munich. He created drawings, watercolours, caricatures.

Bruno Tepa’s sketches form part of the prewar collection of the National Museum of Przemyśl. Due to missing inventory documentation it has been impossible to determine how it became property of the Museum.
