part of the collection

“These were albums from my father’s work on the construction of those reactors and so on and, besides that, I also found there, for example, a complete technical description of a reactor. In Russian. In Russian, this certainly could not have been taken out. It would definitely be classified - extremely secret. And, based on these albums, I created the entire Structures of Connections series,” Ewa Held recounted.

In this painting from the series, a gigantic steel tower dominates the composition - erected to support the largest electricity transmission lines, capable of carrying electrical power at voltages exceeding 100,000 volts. In this work, Ewa Held evokes the memory of her father’s professional activity, as well as the memory of the Polish landscape.

Here and there, the black outlines of the structure are also painted with white. In the background, the sky is dark blue and dark grey. On the left, at the bottom of the composition, there is a small, grey building standing between the bases of the structure. These are rounded towers, composed of five black, flat forms. Between some of them, patches of vivid, dark green can be seen.
